Junior Railers Hockey Club

Tuition Policy

The Junior Railers Hockey Club is the premier youth ice hockey program in Central Massachusetts. We pride ourselves on being the only organization in the area that offers something for everyone with programs at all levels of competition, commitment and cost for all kids of all ages and skill levels.

As a 501C(3) Non-Profit Corporation, the Junior Railers has done everything it can to keep costs in line. We operate a very tight and balanced budget that requires each family to pay their tuition on a timely basis. As a non-profit organization, we must fully recover the costs associated with the program.

To this end, a Tuition/Payment Policy has been developed to reduce JRHC’s risk associated with the non-payment and/or delinquent payment of tuition fees, and assist to alleviate the administrative/cost burden related to the collection of tuition fees.

In general, tuition has been established to ensure that JRHC covers all the costs associated with operating the program.  A few of the costs associated with operating the program include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ice Time for Practice, Skills & Games
  • League Fees
  • Referees & Scorekeepers
  • Tournaments*
  • Pucks & Equipment
  • Merchant Account Fees
  • Annual Audit Fees
  • Equipment Storage
  • Website
  • Other Administrative Costs

*Items included in some program tuitions

Outstanding Tuition Balances

NO player will be permitted to try out or evaluate for the upcoming season unless all tuition and/or fees from the previous season have been paid in full for both that player or any sibling.  There will be no exceptions made to this policy.

Effective March 2018 JRHC will mandates automatic scheduled payments to a credit/debit card for all Hockey Programs listed below:

  • AAA Elite Teams
  • Travel/Valley League
  • House League

Each player registration will require credit or debit card information be provided through our secure online payment system at the time of registration. The provided card will be charged accordingly based on the payment schedule outlined in the registration. Please note, the credit/debit card information is not visible to any member of the JRHC including the Treasurer, this information is securely stored with Crossbar.

The only exception that will be made to this policy is for a single payment for the entire tuition amount at the time of registration either online or by Check. Unpaid/Unsecured Registrations that do not have the required deposit paid online within 5 days of registering will be deleted automatically by the website. If paying the full tuition by check, this must also be done within 5 days of registering to avoid the registration being deleted.

Payments for all other Programs or Items

For all other types of charges including but not limited to Learn to Skate, Learn to Play Hockey, items sold in the online store, uniforms, clinics, AAA Tryout Fees etc. will require online payment in full at the time of registration. Any registration that is received and not paid in full online within three (3) days will automatically be cancelled and deleted.

Refund Policy

Any player wishing to withdraw from JRHC after his or her tuition has been paid in full, must do so in writing, to the JRHC Board of Directors.  Tuition refund requests will be granted on an individual case by case basis.  Upon receiving this written request, the player’s withdrawal date will be established.  Tuition refund requests will be considered only upon written request to the JRHC Board of Directors for cases of illness and/or injury that prohibit the player from participating in the sport of ice hockey for the balance of the hockey season.

No refund will be granted for any reason other than the aforementioned, including, but not limited to, players leaving JRHC to join another organization, whether hockey or not; to play for a high school team; and/or due to dissatisfaction and/or problems with coaches, teammates, ice officials, and/or leagues.

In all circumstances, proof of exception must be submitted to the JRHC Board together with the request. The amount of refund, if any, will be pro-rated but in no circumstance will it be more than one-half of the tuition payments made to the JRHC.  The timeframe, in which a tuition refund check will be issued, if approved, may be subject to availability of program funds.

Without exception no refund will be granted for tryout fees and/or registration deposits for Hockey Programs as all are deemed non-refundable.

We fully understand youth hockey is expensive and life throws us curves, however, it is your responsibility to communicate and work with us to ensure your payments are made timely.
